Here Are 6 Hidden Features of Samsung’s One UI 6 That You’ll Wish You Knew About Sooner

This story is brought to you by Samsung.

If you’re like most people who rely on digital devices for a large part of your daily activities, you’ll probably be aware of just how important your smartphone is when navigating the world around you.

The obvious needs that you might fulfil with your smartphone include completing work tasks (emails, conference calls on the go), getting your daily entertainment (YouTube, music, games), or performing necessary functions such as making payments, capturing memories with your camera, or even something less common like using your device as a WiFi hotspot, for instance.

Besides all of these handy smartphone capabilities, however, you can also find some more obscure features on your device that you might not be aware of, but that are extremely helpful once you come across them.

This is especially true when it comes to Samsung’s One UI 6 — its version of Android 14 that boasts a host of features designed to boost your day-to-day smartphone experience.

Here are some extremely handy features within One UI 6 that you might have missed:

1. Lock Screen Customization

While Android users will already be familiar with the high degree of customization on offer with the stock OS, Samsung’s One UI 6 will allow for greater flexibility when it comes to styling your lock screen, with a variety of styles available for your clock as well as several fonts and orientation options to keep things fresh every single time.

2. Bixby Text Call

The Bixby Text Call feature might seem pretty niche, but can come in handy in situations where you need to have a phone call but can’t speak out loud. It simply works by allowing you to switch between voice or text options within a call with the press of a button.

When you switch to text mode within a call, you can then type out your conversation responses (instead of speaking them), and Bixby will read them back to the caller on the other end. When you want to go back to voice conversations, simply tap the button again.

3. Customizable Camera Widgets

If you’re a photography buff (or even if you just find yourself frequently opening the camera app), One UI 6 now allows you to add custom cameras widget to your home screen.

These widgets do more than act as a shortcuts to the camera app, as they allow you to pre-select very specific camera settings, such as nightmode or panorama, that you can access with the tap of one button.

4. AI Image Clipping

With the improved AI functionality embedded within Samsung device cameras, you can now directly clip objects within a picture and save them as stickers. These stickers can then be superimposed onto other photos or videos when you edit them, or you could just store them to use at a later time if you wish.

With today’s messaging and social media apps so heavily focused on stickers, this feature is a fun one that you might find yourself returning to over and over again.

5. App Auto Blocker

Sure, security and privacy don’t seem as fun as other features, but they’re certainly among the most important things to consider when using a smartphone.

In the past, one thing to look out for with Android devices was the unintentional installation of apps from unknown sources.

Samsung’s One UI 6 Auto Blocker feature, however, now lets users protect their Galaxy devices and internal data by preventing the installation of applications from unauthorised sources, with added checks for dangerous malware included by default.

If you’re not a user that tends to sideload apps from sources outside of the Google Play or Samsung Galaxy Store, this feature will be something that you’ll want to turn on all the time. Simply access the Auto Blocker by heading to Settings, then into Security and Privacy, and finally set Auto Blocker to On.

6. Access Your Settings Faster

The key to getting the most out of your smartphone is efficiency, and Samsung’s One UI 6 now features a faster way of getting to the settings that you use the most.

With the Quick Settings feature, you can now swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to bypass the notifications center altogether and directly access the settings that you use the most.

Users who want to activate this feature can do so by tapping the pencil icon in the quick toggle panel, and then setting the feature to “On”.

A system that’s always improving.

The above are only a handful of the improvements that have been made to the the One UI system by Samsung, and users can still expect even more handy tools to appear on their Galaxy devices with each incremental upgrade.

With a promise of between three to four years of guaranteed updates for all of its Galaxy devices, there’s also no need to worry about security and privacy issues when browsing the web, working online, or scrolling through your favorite social apps

Of all the Samsung’s One UI 6 features mentioned above, which one do you think you’ll be using the most?
